A beautiful humorous classical that somehow have a little pinch of Seven Dwarves in them. Sweet, cute, hilarious and definitely my all time favourite. I can’t place a real reason behind it but every time I watched the classic, I’d get all smiley and giddy with happiness, as if there were a whole swarm of butterflies in my stomach.
I simply cannot have enough of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. What used to be a passing free time shows in TnT Cable Vision channels that airs old classical movies now became my all time favourite. Armed with my comfy pillow, blankie and extremely comfortable pajamas; I would brave and wrestle the TV remote control from the arthritis clutches of my own father. Muahaha…
The story starts by having one of the lumberjack giants who seems to be the most social, cleanest and charming of all; entering the local town for his supplies while searching for a bride. Unfortunately, the giant thought that a bride could be easily gotten over the counter but after a reprimanding stare by the shop owner, he targeted his bride hunting else where.
Luck had a great sense of humor for Adam Pontipee finally got his wishes and married Milly and that was when the real story starts. Hell hath no place for a woman scorn!
Milly, Adam’s wife, had initially thought she would be happily married away and retire to her silent reprieve, away from the bustles of dirty harried unmannerly men. Unfortunately, he husband seemed to have conveniently forgotten to inform her that they would be living in a house under the same household as his other 6 brothers. Their names are as follows:-
Adam, Benjamin, Caleb, Dan, Ephraim, Frankincense and Gideon.
Yup, all are ABC from the bible except Frank.. hehehe..
Back to the story, Milly was mollified to find the sweet cottage she had in mind turned out to be a real pig sty with real living pigs running loose in their house. Everything was topsy-turvy in the house. The chimney was never cleaned, the house was dusty and dirty, mountainous piles of dirty laundry, unwashed dishes and lastly. Unwashed men.
It is very interesting and simply hilarious to watch as Milly clucked into a mother hen and took over the household. After making sure that everything and everyone was clean and neat, she began teaching her loving brother in laws about anger management and courting a woman.
I’m not going to go on about the rest of the movie else it won’t be as interesting as watching it yourself. It’s a certainly must watch family shows with good musical and superbly choreographed dancing scenes.
I certainly love almost all their songs… oohhh… So cute, catchy, rounded voice accompanied with a powerful volume; that’s how I would ever described the songs. I grew up watching Walt Disney cartoons and movies, was a choir member for 4 years (albeit unwillingly), thus this story falls under one of my favourite categories.
I’m in such a good mood that I have attached a clip of one of my favourite shots. Hehehehe.. Weee!!
