It has been almost a year plus since I last stepped into my motherland even though I’m right across the border. Things have changed alot since then and all of my favourite haunts have come and gone. There are things which I miss like the food, clean environment and there are a lot of things which I don’t like the MRT and the expensive travelling rates.
The price of chicken noodle in Far East Plaza last time used to be $2.50 each and yesterday when I stepped in and quench my yearning for my favourite food, the price has increased to $3.3o each and the chicken can be countable as pathetic. All the food has been economised. Big bowls now left with only the big bowl with lesser servings. But the shopping, wow.. things are quite remarkable and affordable. But after doing my quick exchange rate, JB is still the best.
But the night life and night drive is enjoyable. I finally were able to meet my old friends whom had been dying to meet me. Unfortunately only Lisa and her husband were able to meet me since I came in late, all thanks to my late chauffeur. Nothing has changed in Kent Ridge Park and the view is still as beautiful as ever.
The outing to Orchard and Clark Quay were kind of stressful to me. I’m so used to hop in and hop out to my exact location or nearest carpark however yesaterday was a test of my endurance and stamina. Sadly to say my stamina is terrible, my feet were aching, I was dehydrated and I keep searching for the nearest seat or foot reflexiology during my walkabout. I really missed JB badly then, there, I can find my foot reflexology at every mall for tired shoppers like me.
Already I had to compete for the entrance to the train and seats in the MRT, then I had to march from Dhoby Ghaut station to the interconnecting North East Line to take the train to Clark Quay. I can bet I lost a good amount of fats and water on my walk.
At least the walk to Clarke Quay was worth it. I made it in time for the sunset and the view was as fantastic as I last remembered. The river side walk was littered with artistic seats and gazebos. Couples can be seen everywhere and anywhere. The food was unfortunately were not for me. Its a clubbing and pubbing area, so no way can I get a yummy plate of Halal food unless I head for the the nearest Banquet or fast food outlet.
As much as I love Singapore, I have to cut my trip short and have to head back to JB tomorrow. I have work to complete, errands to finish and customers to pester with. Oh yeah for those who knows me, DON’T CALL ME!! Just SMS/ FB or email me if its urgent. The calling rates here using M’sian number is a killer lady.
