I’m not in the mood to post actually. Yesterday woke up early to send my dad to the hospital on my doctor’s advice. The doctor did suspect serious heart problems for my dad but after waiting for him in the A&E of Changi General Hospital, the results were finally out.
I didn’t manage to follow my dad since the health security was very tight in Singapore due to the H1N1 Alert. Only one visitor was allowed to accompany the patient. Before that all visitors and patients who wished to enter the hospital were needed to go through personal registration and health screening with the temperature taking and overseas travel declaration. After taking a face mask and going through the health screening were we allowed to enter the hospital. It’s as good as visiting an inmate.
Anyway after waiting for an hour or so, we were lucky since we came in very early in the morning, my dad results were out. After doing an ECG, sugar level test and BP, his result was an average borderline. No suspect of heart problems like what my dad had suspected he was having but he did have a high sugar level. Which means… my dad has been and always be a stubborn old man when food is concerned.
His suspect of heart problem was caused by severe gastric problems. So no stress, no hot and spicy food and certainly no chocolates for his diabetics. That completed, we just need to have a follow up check up for my old man next month just in case to look further into his health.
Unfortunately my dad doesn’t have an insurance when he was diagnosed with diabetes else the medical bills will be lesser. Makes me regret not working triple hard on my part-time to pay for his insurance. But then again, I was still studying and growing up in a large yet middle class income family is not an easy thing. I wonder if my elder siblings has taken a look at term life insurance rates online.
