Sick and tired of those irritating pop up ads whenever you turn on the internet? Really hated and despise of entertaining irritating fake ‘Security Alert” windows that dings from your task bar? Gritting your teeth as you swear at the idiot who caused the inability to turn on your REAL anti-virus?

Don’t bother slamming your head onto your desktop. I have the simplest solution.

A few days back, one of my family members unknowingly fell into the “Security Alert” malwares. Ever since then, the irritating application turns on every available minute to remind us that we have trojans, virus and all that sorts in my computer. It’s a messy job to clear up the registry but it only took me 5 mins to download the Anti-Malware program to end this war.

Malwarebytes.org is the best thing that can ever appear on the Internet World. It is somewhat like Spybot but instead of massacring Spywares, it destroys Malwares. It is recommended by Cnet so don’t worry about it being fake applications.

You just need to install the Malwarebytes software, update it to its latest updates and then run it. You’d be amazed at the beauty of what this baby can do. Even your super-dooper anti-virus can’t beat this honey.

To download the free version, you just need to click here.

Remember after you have cleaned your computer of these pesky pests, make sure that you weekly update them and scan your computer! Never be complacent!

I have watched my fair share of horror (zombies and ghost) movies ever since I had my parents pass to watch movies by myself. In fact, come to think of it.. I’ve watched all of the horror movies that was shown in the cinema and only a good few managed to make me squirm in my seat. Those that was able to make my stomach turn and heave was the best!

I have a high tolerance for violence and gore scenes. The only time I ever get myself scared witless is whenever I’m down with fever. Apart from that, I could easily watch and sleep through a horror movie without flinching a bit.

Unfortunately out off all the horror films I’ve watched, none could have ever beaten Dawn of the Dead, Infection (Japanese Horror Film), Chinese Vampire Old Movies and Freddy Krueger. Up till now, those 3 movies could still give me the creeps and make my stomach turn up side down.

Best human eating zombies movie should be given to Dawn of the Dead. The suspense along with the gore, that movie nearly made me puke out by the time it ended. It even managed to give me nightmares that same night!

Infection. Ahh that movie was a great gore mentally psycho movie. Totally much better than Ju-On and Kokuru-san put together. This story was a great stomach heaver for me. Almost three-quarter through the movie, my stomach was protesting and I had to keep everything in since the interesting parts were getting more interesting. Too bad, no nightmares from this movie.

Chinese Ghost Vampire Movies. Even though the stories made were decades old, the movies still manages to scare me with sudden appearance of the vampires, intending to suck a person’s blood out. Unlike the current horror movies, these oldies were made interlaced with lots humor, making the viewers feel at ease, lulling them to drop their defenses before dropping in the horror parts. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a decent non-dubbed Cantonese Vampire videos so bare with me on the English Dubbed ok..

Freddy Krueger. OOh… The dead walking nightmare that has manicure problems. Well, when I was younger I was convinced his Wolverine’s Claws were his nails. The dark scenes compiled with never ending suspense and surprisingly no gore made a great impact on me. I tried watching the old movie again and again but unfortunately it still managed to make me flinch at those irritating Freddy Popping In scenes.

I was quite surprised to read on today’s paper about a new museum opening in JB this coming 3rd October 2009. The museum is to showcase collection of artifacts related to the Cantonese, Hokkien, Hainanese, Hakka and Teochew clans. Situated at Jalan Ibrahim in Johor Bahru, the museum is ensured to leave visitors a rustic feeling as the museum and surrounding buildings has existed more than 60 years ago.

I am more than delighted to visit the museum and take a more personal look at the lives one my ancestors had to go through during those old days. But since it’s opened on 3rd October, I’d wait out for a few weeks or perhaps months later before dropping into the museum.

Perhaps by then, the musuem has become more established and have more artifacts and activities for visitors to partake.

Parents and guardians must always monitor their child’s internet activities regularly. The internet is a vast space of media and exposes many information, pictures, games and even adult contents to users.

So just imagine your 6yr old child, innocent and eager to play his internet game and unfortunately typed the address wrongly and is redirected into another webpage that has adult contents. If that’s not bad how about finding out that your child became addicted to these sites and introduced their friends to these sites.

See how serious the situation can get?

Internet has become a pool of information that is impossible to be monitored 24-7. Millions of users worldwide connects to the internet every second and at least 40% uploaded information, details and DIY videos to the internet. Even though authorities struggles to monitor the internet and take down websites that are destructive to the society, at that second the website is shut down, another 10 websites of almost similar content sprouts out.

So the best way to make sure our children and wards do not meddle into the dark zone is to daily or perhaps weekly check on the sites that child has visited.

To do this, you have to open up your internet browser and press (CTRL H). This will open the browser history of the sites that has been visited for a time span.

If you find that the sites that your child has been frequenting is not a safe content, you can always block the sites. To do this, you can learn the step by step instruction from this site. Don’t worry, I’ve read it and it’s very easy to follow.

Don’t wait and hesitate to block the sites that are unsafe for your child. Too much negative information can affect your child’s future.

What is a drug rehab and how do we know if our love ones needed it? Most of us always relate drug rehab center as a place where all the bad people goes to whenever they are caught with drugs in their blood. In fact there are some batch of addicts who actually went in willingly in hopes they can have a brighter chance once they have fought with their will against drug abuse.

Fighting drug abuse is not easy. The discipline needed on the drug addict is a great feat, in fact it is much easier to swim across the world than to fight against the addict’s  need against drugs. He had to go through a long period of cold turkey and should anyone think that going on a cold turkey to stop smoking is tough, try multiplying it one thousand times.

The period for cold turkey ranges from one person to another. The addict has to go through a series of cold sweat fever along with bouts of stomach cramp and constant vomiting.  Once the addict has accomplish his cold turkey period, he will then go through the small steps of recovery which includes of counseling, self-help activities and other activities. Even the families of the addict will be given counseling by the government servants to help the family members of the addict.

Even after he has finished his time in the drug rehab centers, he will constantly need moral support from his family members since the fight against drug abuse is always in his mind.

Like my dad always say, to take on drugs takes only a second, to get rid of it will take your whole life.

I’ve always been fascinated with this song, Janjiku (My Promise) by Sofaz. The song is very catchy and I can almost feel the desperation when the singer sang the part where he begged for the gal to forgive him and take him back. It’s so sad and sweet. This song is always included in dramas and stories that has to do with the guy cheating on the girl.

Let me translate the song that was written in Malay to English.

Lyrics in Malay:-

Berulang kali ku mencuba memujuk dirimu cuba menjernihkan
Pertelingkahan antara kita berdua
Kau hilang dan terus membisu beginikah cara kau menghukum aku
Atas kesilapanku menduakan dirimu
Maafkan aku…

Tak terlintas difikiranku melukai kamu permainkan cinta
Yang telah kau berikan sepenuhnya padaku
Tiada dua atau tiga pengganti dirimu pada kau yang satu
Ku abadikan cinta selamanya
Hanya padamu kekasihku…

Chorus:-

Bukakanlah pintu hatimu
Izinkan aku kembali padamu
Ku sesalkan perbuatan ku ini
Tak akan berulang lagi ku janji
Terimalah ku kembali kasih…

Biarpun ribut melanda namun tetap aku berdiri menunggu
Agar terbukti janjiku padamu
Tidakkah terdetik hatimu untuk memaafkan kesalahan aku
Berikan peluang sekali lagi
Hanya ku pinta…

Bukakanlah pintu hatimu
Izinkan aku kembali padamu…
Ku sesalkan perbuatan ku ini
Tak akan berulang lagi ku janji…

(Bukakanlah pintu hatimu
Izinkan aku kembali padamu…
Ku sesalkan)
Bukakanlah pintu hatimu
Izinkan aku kembali padamu…
Ku sesalkan perbuatan ku ini
Tak akan berulang lagi ku janji…
Terimalah ku kembali kasih…

In English:

Endless time I’ve tried to coax you to clear
This rift between us
You disappeared and became silent on me, is this how you’d punish me
For my wrongs on me cheating you
Forgive me..

Never have I ever thought of hurting you, mocking our love
That has been fully given by you
There is none that can take over your place, only you are for me
I would always preserve our love forever
Only for you, my love..

Chorus:-
Open the door to your heart
Please take me back
I’ve regretted my actions
Please allow me to return to you love

Let the storms come but I’ll steadfastly wait
To prove my promise to you
Doesn’t your heart feel to forgive me
Let me have another chance
Please I beg you

Chorus x3

It had been a boring weekend. Didn’t do much except clean the house, cook for lunch and dinner and play my Sims2. I had wanted to purchase and get my hands on this new game that had earned a good score on the ratings board on Gamespot.com.

Dragons Age Origins was rated as the top pc game for computer role playing genre. The graphics depicted were fantastic and the controls were magnificent. Just by looking at the gameplay preview photos are enough to make my hands itch to get the game.

The best thing about it all lies on the developers. The genius behind of the whole game is non other than the makers of Baldur’s Gate™, Star Wars®: Knights of the Old Republic™, and Mass Effect™. Oh yes.. Baldur’s Gate my dear gamers, the best game controls and labyrinth game I’ve ever encountered.

In the Dragons Age Origins, users can opt for whichever camera controls they wish and since I love my Baldur’s Gate, I’m glad they have that option like the picture showed below.

dragons age origin

Unfortunately for gamers who are itching to get their hands on this marvelous game, you can only get it on the second half of 2009. It comes in PC, XBOX 360 and PS3. All the more reasons I should buy a PS3..hmm..

However, you can view and get more information on the game by visiting the official website at Dragons Age Origin. In the meantime, you can always play the available games in the market like Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

I wonder whether my friend who is having her holiday in one of the prestigious Las Vegas hotels knows about this new game. Like me, she too is a big fan of RPG fantasy games.

We always hear and read about commuters in KL complaining about the irresponsible taxi drivers who insist on not using the meter when charging passengers. We also read about how the authorities always take tough actions, measures and even impersonate as a passenger to catch these errant drivers.

But has anyone ever complained about outside of KL like Johor Bahru for example? I doubt so and if there are, it will be minimal since most of them are not bothered to make an effort to complain to the LPKP. I happen to be one of the disgruntled commuters who had to frown and throw a tantrum every time the taxi drivers never use the meter.

The only time I could ever remember using a taxi that used and charged according to the meter is once, the cost was RM$12.50 from City Square to Tmn Tan Sri Yaccob. Most of the times the drivers even though turned on their meter, they never charge according to the meter, instead they marked up the price by 40%.

When asked why they never bothered to use the meter accordingly, their reason is the same, “Tak cukup nak hidup la” or translated into “Not enough to live”.

HELLO!! We are workers too and worked doubly hard to pay our expenses. We don’t make our own currency and have our signatures on every Malaysian Ringgit Notes. It’s not fair at all why we the passengers have to work so hard to afford our monthly expenses when the cab drivers take the easy  way out and charge us double the amount.

It’s as good as taking a parang onto our neck and slaughter us. We are not rich la brother.. You and I are Malaysians, what happen to the one heart and one country? I guess it doesn’t applies to money.

LPKP and JPJ should monitor and do their weekly operations in JB also and not just at the capital. I am sure Johorians would be more than happy to point the places which harbors errant taxi drivers. Places like the taxi stand at Jln Wong Ah Fook, beside the City Square where the old wet market used to be is one of them.

The drivers pick and choose their passengers and some even charged exaggerate taxi fare the moment we told them our destinations. Just because that’s the place where most shoppers and Malaysian who worked in Singapore will head to when they wish to return home doesn’t mean they have the permission to cut our throats. ‘Tis no wonder commuters would rather ask their family members to pick them up or take the public bus.

LPKP and JPJ should also their rounds in malls. A few months back I was charged RM30 from my Tebrau City to City Square. Oh yes, I did fuss and about to scratch the driver’s eyes out but lucky for the driver my elder brother was with me and calmed me down. Hey the distance is almost the same as from City Square to my house.

Oh even Jusco Bukit Indah.. Before the mall was around, the charge from Tmn Tan Sri Yaccob to Bukit Indah Roundabout park was RM4 but the moment the mall opened, the price was hiked to RM10. Some even had the cheek to charge RM16 when it first opened, saying the traffic jam is part of the cause.

Perhaps if commuters teamed up and blogged about this Irresponsible Taxi Drivers, the media would sniff about this post and scorched the awareness cell in the LPKP and JPJ.

It seems that sex is a taboo topic in Malaysia. Perhaps its the way we were brought up in where kids are not allowed to know anything more about sex other than how Bees and Flowers meet, or somewhere in between that line. Being left in the dark and rarely explained to them fully in their Health Ed and Science Lessons about the complexity of pre-marital sex.

Kids are still unsure as what a condom, IUD or even a morning pill is used for, not to mention the features of each item. There are a few times when I did catch a science teacher referring a condom as a balloon, blushing away while sputtering the uses of it in vague terms. What is the point of stuttering and creating a blanket screen if the true term and use of the birth control methods are not explained properly in details.

Teachers need to understand and realise that this is no longer the Atap Students where there are no TV, the nearest cinema is situated miles away etc. They have to realise that kids these days are more curious, more adventurous and wants to know more. It is best that the teachers open up and teach them everything they need to know bout sex and the prevention method of pregnancy.

At least the students will know what will happen to them should they breach the threshold of pre-marital sex. I remembered the time when my school mates and I had to sit for a sex talk in our Secondary 3 years. The video was filled with gruesome pictures of aborted babies, STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) and the repercussion of what will happen to the partners should they not take precaution in having pre-marital sex activities.

Sure the lecturers from the health ministry had tried to drill the impact of being charged of statutory rape should a couple or either of the partners indulge in pre-marital sex under the age of 14yrs old (Singapore), 16yrs old (Malaysia). But teenagers, hey, we strive to be different and test the forbidden waters. The more the adults say NO, all the more reason the teenagers would want to try to know why.

So let’s ditch the whole keeping sex topic under the covers and expose them. But don’t misunderstand me. I do not support pre-marital sex moreover indulging in any acts that may lead to pre-marital sex. I’m a Muslim and after reading at the sickening news of Muslim women abandoning their new borns by the dumpster, toilet bowls, roadside etc, I am writing this only to stop or at least make some couple realise what will happen to them in the acts of premarital sex.

If you want to have sex before marriage, please take up these precaution to avoid STD, diseases which can be transmit to your sex partner, and an unwanted child which will usually resort to aborted fetus. All of the prevention stated below are only for temporary use only, not permanent.

Condom packs
Male Condom in Packs

1) Use a condom:- Even though it doesn’t 100% stop the sperm contained because even a small tear or even a pin hole on the condom can cause a large amount of sperm to escape and entering the female vagina. Used usually by men and placed over the penis BEFORE intercourse, not after. And NO it is not a balloon meant for kids. To learn how to use it and the safety precautions to take when using it during sexual intercourse, click here.

Female Condom

Female Condom

2) Female Condom:- Surprised? Well it’s not a new thing since it has been manufactured from 1992. The effect is the same as the male condom except it’s meant for women and used differently. At each end of the condom there is a flexible ring. At the closed end of the sheath, the flexible ring is inserted into the vagina to hold the female condom in place, you need lubrication to hold it in place.

At the other open end of the sheath, the ring stays outside the vulva at the entrance to the vagina. This ring acts as a guide during penetration and it also stops the sheath bunching up inside the vagina. It is advisable not to use a male condom when using a female condom for the friction will cause the female condom to tear or bunch up, desisting the effect of the female condom.

You can view the details of using the female condom and the advantages of using it here.

3) IUD (Intrauterine Devices): Used for women, made of plastic or metal coils. A professional doctor will have to insert the IUD into the uterus to prevent the implantation of sperm. It can be left inside the uterus for 2-3yrs and once its removed, pregnancy can take place.

However it can cause a side effect like irregular menstrual flow, doesn’t prevent infection of  STD and HIV, causes cramps and will increase the risk of pelvic inflamatory disease and infertility. Below is a video of how an IUD is inserted.

4) Spermicide:- It is a chemical used to kill or block sperms before they reach the uterus. It comes in the forms of contraceptive foam, which is a spermicide in an aerosol form, is inserted deep into your vagina using a small applicator.

Contraceptive cream or jelly can also be inserted deep into the vagina with a small applicator. Contraceptive creams or jellies are good to use with diaphragms. Follow the directions on the package.

You should insert foams, creams, or jellies no more than 30-60 minutes before you have intercourse. You should wait several minutes after you insert them before you have intercourse.

The small, oval-shaped vaginal suppositories are placed deep in the vagina and release a contraceptive foam 10-15 minutes after you insert one. Because of this, you should not have intercourse until 15 minutes after insertion, so there is time for the foaming to occur.

A vaginal contraceptive film (VCF) is a 2-inch by 2-inch flat package with wax paper-like tissues, each containing the spermicide nonoxynol-9. You should put the film on a dry fingertip and insert it up into the vagina at least 15 minutes before you have intercourse.

The effectiveness of the spermicides usually lasts only for about an hour, so you will need to insert more if you are having sexual intercourse for more than an hour. Each time you have sexual intercourse, you should insert more spermicide into your vagina.

However our teachers didn’t inform us that it will cause soreness in the vagina, rash in or around the vagina and create a discharge that smells bad or that comes in a larger amount than normal. Why does the side effect always affect women..

**(info is taken from Young Women Health Organisation)

5) Contraceptive Pills:- It is consumed by women to prevent ovulation. It has a few different types but all of them have a common role, manipulating the hormones of the woman.

Contraceptive Pill

Contraceptive Pill

The pill contains chemicals called hormones. One type of pill called ‘the combined pill’ has two hormones called Oestrogen and Progestogen. The combined pill stops the release of an egg every month – but doesn’t stop periods.

The other type of pill only has Progestogen in it. It works by altering the mucous lining of the vagina to make it thicker. The sperm cannot then get through, and as the sperm can’t meet the egg, the girl can’t get pregnant.

Women can also now use the injectable hormanal contraceptive. It works exactly like the pills except it is injectable and the woman only needs to take it once in every 12 weeks.

However the side effect of the hormonal pills will cause mood swings, weight gain, breast tenderness, nausea and headaches. But it varies from woman to woman. It is best and advisable to get the advice of a family doctor to get the correct pill type for you.

6) Morning Pill a.k.a Emergency Pill:- The emergency contraceptive or ‘morning after’ pill is an oral contraceptive pill that can be obtained on prescription from you doctor or local sexual health clinic. This method is only to prevent pregnancy and it doesn’t prevent the infection of STD

There are a few different types of morning-after-pills available, but most modern forms consist of a single tablet that is swallowed with water. For this method to work, it must be taken within 3 days (72 hours) of having sex, although the sooner the pill is taken, the more likely it is to be effective. The side effect is almost the same to contraceptive pills.

However should you find yourself pregnant and it is unwanted, think it through. Do not carry the fetus half way through pregnancy only to realise you made the biggest mistake of your life by having a baby and then took the easy way out by throwing your new baby out in the street.

Approach your nearest help care, I’ve searched and shortlisted a site that has all the non-profitable welfare organization and you can view the help cares here.

But if you still wish for an abortion, well.. I hope you’re in for the ride of your life. I’m not going easy on this so..

Remember, it is still advisable not to have sex before marriage especially if you are a Muslim. I do hope this info proves useful and if it can avoid and create awareness amongst teenagers, than I’m happy that I got my job done.

I had thought today was like my usual mornings. Eat breakfast, drink cups of coffee and chit chat with my neighbors over breakfast. But mom decided to add a little extra fun by being a Sherlock Holme and solve the mystery to the holes in the soil of most of her potted plants.

Gloves- check. Gardening spades- check. Fat cat lazing beside her- check. Within 10mins of her solving mystery frenzy, the whole breakfast table was shaken up by her loud surprised yelling. Mystery of the holes in the potted plants solved.

A female birthing mouse was the culprit behind the holes. Yes, birthing… she was in labour and there was 3 newborn mice in the holed up nest. The poor mouse made the mistake of running away which attracted the attention of my lazy old cat. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen my hunting cat move at fast speed and pouncing with the graze of a gazelle.

After making a chew toy out of the fat mouse, Kontot finally had enough fun and spat her prey out. By now my other cat, he eats almost everything (he loves fried Bayam), had woken up from his nap. He saw the nest of the mouse that my mom had digged out and after sniffing on the newborn mice, he proceeded to make them into his breakfast.

By now, everyone at the breakfast table had taken a keen interest in the National Geographic Channel live show and I was having trouble at trying to finish my breakfast. I’m not sure how the newborn mice tasted like but my cat sure like its breakfast.

We had thought he would only eat the young ones but he surprised everyone when he continued to eat the mother. It only took him a few minutes and he left nothing behind.

I did manage to get the picture and if its too much to view them, please look away.
