I have been very lazy lately in updating this dusty site. What used to be a place where I dump all my thoughts and cynical ideas, now rests with the dust and huge cobwebs. *dons her apron and takes out her feather duster*

Time to whip those dust bunnies and show them who is boss eh? *gives a loud war cry and chases the dust bunnies away*

I am not sure if I have written about it but I recently got myself a new desktop in lieu with a lightning storm that fried my old PC. Since it was not equipped with a decent video graphic card, I trudge back to my homeland, Sim Lim Square and got the best deal out of them.

GEFORCE GT 220 may be out dated for several years but thats the only one which I am able to afford considering I have a tight budget. It is a 1GB DDR2 HDMI DVI VGA PCI E and it was pegged at $SGD 86.00.

For newbies who are new into graphic cards, do lots of reading and comparing online first before buying anything. Furthermore those sales person behind the counter usually expects a nerd/ geek to be buying all of these items and will never be helpful to counter offer or even help you out in your purchase.

Unfortunately I faced that problem since its been years since I even read a PC magazine. Electronics are constantly updating and revamping and it is VERY much advised to read up before you buy anything.

When you have bought it, read up on how to install it along with the driver. Do not plug your monitor into your new graphic card yet until all the installation is completed. Plug n Play will not recognise it yet.

I installed it with no problems and am happily playing Dragons Age Origin and Awakening with ease. Fantastic graphics that game has *drools*. However if you do installed a new patch for Dragons Age Awakening, do a data backup for your game. I had problems with the patch and its crappy.

Tempting me to rewrite a few things in that patch, although I get a little lazy in reading programming words.

Yesterday I went to SIM LIM Square to get my graphic card. The manufacturer’s price and the dealers price are almost the same so I decided to let the dealers be a little bit richer than the manufacturers. In case of faulty items, its just 2hr bus ride from my house to that place.

While I may be lost with my techie side for a few weird years of my life, I do keep tracks of the latest development whenever a computer software/hardware problem arises. As it is, it took me 3 days to read up on the different graphics card out there in the market, compatibility and also price hunting.

While I was happily marauding my second most favourite shopping area, I didn’t realise the attention my little sister and I were drawing uh.. I was drawing. My little sister looks totally in place amongst the geeks while I was dressed in a sunny and cute flaring skirt and my shirt with my heels.

Yup, I looked like a total bimbo.

It was not surprising that no one was helpful enough to sell me and give me counter proposal for my graphic cards. Almost all the shops I went to, they just give me the prices and mind their own business instead of waiting on me.

HELLO!! Bimbo looking doesn’t mean I am a total airhead!

But in the end I got the graphic card I wanted from a nice HELPFUL saleswoman who gave me many counter proposals with lots of good discounts on all my purchases.

However there was a moment when I was stopped by two uni students who were doing a survey for their thesis. The questions they asked were nothing that a university student should be asking. WHY would I ever want to pay for an anti-virus while I can get it for free? Updating them everyday and doing scans weekly are the steps to prevent those pesky virus, worms etc from affecting your PC.

They were shock when I told them my age and currently working. They were expecting another student and too bad for them, they had this geek in bimbo suit instead. They don’t even know that you can counter the virus, worms, trojans manually when your anti-virus died on you in the attack.

AND they are IT university students?!! *face slams*

If these are the types of people that the university are passing out in the future, the world is going to be filled with air-heads and smug morons who know nothing of the world outside their little realm.

This morning is filled with a rhapsody of cries, screaming and laughter. My neighbours must be thinking that this house is having a family reunion of sorts. That is almost true.

My elder brother and family is here. My youngest brother, who is a brat, is finally back home after two years of MIA. The rhapsody of voices belongs to my elder brother’s little ones and for some who are small, the sure pack up a loud voice.

The youngest is currently sleeping, a heavenly relief as he is down with a slight fever. Toddlers with fever are never a good company. *nods*

Tomorrow the adults here would be out of town and serving the country by voting for our political parties. It is compulsory to vote for all legally adult Singaporean. Thus, tomorrow I have trudge the whole ICQ buildings of JB and Singapore.

I am thinking of making another cake other than the red velvet cake I made the other day. After looking at the delicious looking hand-dipped birthday berries, the temptation is hard to resist. Hmm.. wonder if I have enough ingredients *scurries off to the kitchen*
