I have been very lazy lately in updating this dusty site. What used to be a place where I dump all my thoughts and cynical ideas, now rests with the dust and huge cobwebs. *dons her apron and takes out her feather duster*
Time to whip those dust bunnies and show them who is boss eh? *gives a loud war cry and chases the dust bunnies away*
I am not sure if I have written about it but I recently got myself a new desktop in lieu with a lightning storm that fried my old PC. Since it was not equipped with a decent video graphic card, I trudge back to my homeland, Sim Lim Square and got the best deal out of them.
GEFORCE GT 220 may be out dated for several years but thats the only one which I am able to afford considering I have a tight budget. It is a 1GB DDR2 HDMI DVI VGA PCI E and it was pegged at $SGD 86.00.
For newbies who are new into graphic cards, do lots of reading and comparing online first before buying anything. Furthermore those sales person behind the counter usually expects a nerd/ geek to be buying all of these items and will never be helpful to counter offer or even help you out in your purchase.
Unfortunately I faced that problem since its been years since I even read a PC magazine. Electronics are constantly updating and revamping and it is VERY much advised to read up before you buy anything.
When you have bought it, read up on how to install it along with the driver. Do not plug your monitor into your new graphic card yet until all the installation is completed. Plug n Play will not recognise it yet.
I installed it with no problems and am happily playing Dragons Age Origin and Awakening with ease. Fantastic graphics that game has *drools*. However if you do installed a new patch for Dragons Age Awakening, do a data backup for your game. I had problems with the patch and its crappy.
Tempting me to rewrite a few things in that patch, although I get a little lazy in reading programming words.
